Stroke Rehab: Brain Injury Post-Acute Rehabilitation

Many physical therapy services heavily involve dealing with patients that have suffered a stroke. Cerebralvascular Disease (CVA) also known as stroke is the leading cause of long-term disability worldwide. Typically, after initial hospitalization of moderate to severe cases of stoke patients will receive rehabilitative therapies in acute-rehabilitation facilities until they are able to return home or are able to adjust their home environment to allow for their safe return to home. This is not where they’re rehabilitative intervention should end as recovery can continue for years after the stroke.

Stroke rehab–otherwise known as outpatient physical and occupational therapies are the mainstay for further recovery from stroke after the acute phase. Specially tailored programs rendered by experienced therapists are integral to avoiding the plateauing of recovery so often feared in stroke recovery. Goals in stroke rehab can be to fully restore function and mobility or help manage deficits and dysfunction that persist. Individuals with chronic stroke, defined as symptoms related to a stroke sustained more than six months ago, can still improve function albeit more slowly than at initial stages of rehabilitation. Healing Therapeutics is here to help you through your recovery process and receive the best stroke rehab for whichever stage of recovery you may be in.
